Maria et Lea sont deux jeunes actrices qui sont meilleures amies, mais l’ascension du régime Nazi et le mari de Maria les
séparent peu à peu, car Lea est juive. Quand Lea est sur le point d’être déportée, Maria mesure le sens de son amitié pour elle. Elle ne peut rien pour Lea, mais pourra peut-être sauver sa fille, Charlotte, au risque de sa propre vie.
